Marathon Man
Thanks to 37 year old Bournemouth man Nick Eames who ran the London Marathon this April to raise funds for Life and Soul. A self confessed “running hater” Nick found the training tough and was disappointed with his finishing time of 5 hours 14 minutes but raised more than £1,000 so his efforts are much appreciated.
Clay Pigeon Shoot
In May the Trust held a clay pigeon shoot at Purbeck Shooting Club followed by a three course lunch at the Botany Bay Inne in Winterborne Zelston, Dorset. This was a fantastic success with comedian Scott Charlton keeping everyone laughing throughout and raised an amazing £10,000.
Bournemouth 7's
Also in May the Richie Keefe Life and Soul Trust were the nominated charity for the Bournemouth 7’s event held in Christchurch over the Bank holiday weekend. A charity auction hosted by Austin Healey made £500.

Charity Bike Ride
In June Life and Soul Trustee and Poole businessman Richard Stalley boosted funds by £1,400 after being sponsored for a 300 mile bike ride done over the course of five days in France when he cycled from Cherbourg to St Malo.
Thanks to Steele Raymond
Another boost this month came in the form of Bournemouth law firm Steele Raymond who kindly nominated us as their charity for a golf day on June 30th attended by employees and clients and donated £345.
World Cup Win
Although the England team didn’t quite achieve all we’d hoped for during the World Cup, events manager and company director Phil Watkins of Funnybone Ltd turned a negative to a positive by raising £350 for us through raffles during England games held at his Bournemouth pub, the Pig & Whistle.
'Gangsters and Souls' Raise More Than £1,000
A 1930's themed Gangsters and Soul event held in Bournemouth in November 2008 raised more than £1,000 for the Life and Soul Trust. Attendees enjoyed a night of great music with performances by The Rat Pack and the Agency and event organiser and charity trustee, Danny McClafferty confirmed it had been a fantastic success.

Summer Ball Celebrates Life and Soul of Richie
Following on from the fantastic success of the first ball in 2007, the second Life and Soul Summer Ball was held at the Pavilion Ballroom on Saturday 14th June 2008. This had a burlesque theme with the room beautifully dressed in the style of the Moulin Rouge.
Guests were greeted by paparazzi taking photographs and young fans seeking autographs as they walked down the red carpet to the main doors where they were welcomed with a glass of champagne. After an opportunity to mingle and catch up with old friends, guests sat down to enjoy a sumptuous four course meal. The compere was comedian Frank Carson who injected his own style of humour to the proceedings.

Trustee Danny McClafferty opened the evening with a very emotional speech about his best friend Richie, who had sadly passed away a few days earlier. Danny introduced Dr Ilankovan, Richie's surgeon who spoke about the tremendous display of strength, dignity and love displayed by Richie, Jo and Eleenor throughout the time of his illness. This was followed by a short but poignant film to music of Richie, family and friends taken over recent years. Despite the obvious sadness, Danny's words were also uplifting to those present as it was clear that in true life and soul fashion, Richie would want everyone in the room to celebrate the time he had and to have a great evening.
The main and silent auctions then took place, with another array of amazing lots up for grabs. These included a new Mini Cabriolet, a four day trip to New York with Bath Travel, a day out on a Sunseeker Yacht, a handcrafted pendant from Franses Jewellery and trips to Jersey and Majorca. There was also a chance to win a beautiful diamond ring valued in excess of £6,000 in the champagne raffle.
Following the auctions and a side splitting session with Frank Carson, the evening continued with dancing to the sounds of Abba and the Beatles tribute bands into the early hours.
Blues Brothers Event Draws the Crowds
More than 200 people were left anything but feeling blue after attending a Blues Brothers themed event in aid of the Richie Keefe Life and Soul Trust event.
The sell out event in February 2008, was held at the Richmond Arms Pub in Charminster to raise awareness of the Trust and Richie Keefe and his wife Jo were present to enjoy what was a fantastic evening with music from the ten piece Blues Brothers band who recently toured the UK performing the hit show.

Shades and suits were the order of the day and picked as a theme close to Richie's heart as he had chosen to celebrate his birthday in similar fashion in previous years.
Getting the Ball Rolling
The first ever Richie Keefe Life and Soul Trust event was held in the Summer of 2007, kicking off fundraising for the charity with an amazing £120,000.
The event was compered by the legendary Jimmy Tarbuck who also hosted an auction with items up for grabs including a Mini convertible and a weekend on a yacht in the South of France.

It was a poignant moment for Richie when his wife Jo and daughter Eleenor each took to the stage to say a few words about how much all the support meant to them.
